Ma, daughter nabbed in Boracay drug sting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A mother and her daughter were arrested in a drug sting operation Monday morning in Boracay island.

Police in Malay, Aklan collared Mary Jane Morales, 44, and her daughter Shaila, 18, at Sitio Cagban, Brgy Manocmanoc, Boracay island.

The two are natives of Panay town in Capiz.

Reports from Malay indicated that an undercover police officer bought a sachet of suspected shabu from the mother in exchange for P700.

Six more sachets of suspected drug were later recovered from her.

The daughter yielded 10 more sachets of suspected shabu placed in a pouch.

The two denied trading drugs, claiming that the drugs were planted.

The daughter is a student of a private school in Roxas City.

The two were temporarily detained at the lock up cells of Malay PNP while charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being readied against them.
