BACOLOD CITY – Police have identified a person of interest in the killing of a 28-year-old housekeeping employee, who was shot near his workplace in Barangay 6 on Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Raymond Dela Torre of Ma-ao Barrio, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 2, said the victim was sitting on a chair during his break when an unidentified person approached and shot him once in the forehead at close range.
The suspect fled on a motorcycle.
Before the incident, the suspect was seen sitting on his parked motorcycle for several hours, talking on a cellphone.
Tolentino believes the suspect may have been waiting for the victim to exit the mall.
A spent shell from a suspected 9mm caliber firearm was recovered at the scene.
Tolentino said they are investigating if the incident is linked to the victim’s previous job but did not provide further details.
Dela Torre had been working at the mall for about four months after being hired through an agency.
