A 64-year-old man accused of rape was arrested after almost two decades of hiding.
Bienvinido Bondad, 64, of Barangay Bita, Dueñas, Iloilo, was arrested at his house in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
Members of Jordan Police Station and Dueñas Police Station nabbed Bondad around 3:45 pm Thursday.
Judge Gerardo Diaz of the Regional Trial Court Branch 68 in Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on May 16, 2001 in relation to Criminal Case No. 01-1483.
No bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Bondad is the Number 10 most wanted person in Dingle town.
Captain Jose Rey Pabalan, Dueñas police chief, said the suspect went into hiding after a neighbor charged him for sexual molestation.
He went from one place to another until his case went cold.
But police recently dug up his records and monitored his family’s movement.
Pabalan said they received reports of his wife frequently going to Guimaras, prompting them to conduct a surveillance operation that led them to Bondad’s whereabouts.
The suspect is now detained.
