ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 37-year-old man was jailed for pointing a gun at his neighbors Wednesday evening at Barangay Sta. Cruz, Ivisan, Capiz.
Ivan Altamia is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition after a .357-caliber handgun was recovered from his possession.
Reports said a concerned citizen sought police assistance after Altamia, who was believed to be drunk, allegedly pointed the gun at his neighbors.
Meanwhile, a resident from Barangay Poblacion, Dao, Capiz voluntarily surrendered a homemade 12-gauge shotgun to Dao Municipal Police Station.
The gun owner refused to be named by the police for security reasons.
The shotgun is now in the custody of the Dao Municipal Police Station.
On the other hand, some 66 firearms were turned over by 33 punong barangay or village chiefs of Dumarao to the Municipal Police Station.
The turnover was in connection with the Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang campaign led by Police Captain Larnel Frial, Dumarao police chief.
The subject firearms were turned over to the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) for proper disposition.
