BACOLOD City – Misunderstanding among the children of two neighbors led to violence with a man killed and his wife wounded in a gun attack at Barangay Tangub here last Sunday.

Police identified the fatality as Danilo Importante, 36, of the said village. His wife Cindy, 30, was hurt.

Police Captain Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said that Cindy, her sister, and her two-year-old nephew were riding a tricycle driven by Danilo on their way home when two persons on a motorcycle shot them.

Mercado said that Cindy’s sister and her son were able to jump from the tricycle, while Danilo suffered severe gunshot wounds.

His wife suffered gunshot wounds in the neck and back and is now confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here.

Mercado believed that the suspects tailed the couple and went beside their tricycle while approaching the dimly lit area.

Police recovered from the scene several fired bullets and slugs of a .45 caliber firearm.

Two days prior to the shooting, Mercado said the children figured in a misunderstanding, but police could not give specific details about their other previous misunderstandings or what caused the conflict.

Mercado said that the tracker team is already tracing the suspects.
