BACOLOD CITY – A 48-year-old man was found dead after drowning in a submerged area in Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

Police Lt. Col. Fernando Somblingo Jr., city police chief, said the victim and his family had gone swimming in the area during a power outage in their barangay last Saturday.

“They also had a drinking session, but after a while, they noticed that the victim was missing,” Somblingo said.

The search for the man continued until he was found floating in the area the following day.

“The family was convinced that there was no foul play involved in the incident,” Somblingo added.

In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man was found dead with hack wounds at Purok Himpod, Barangay Minoyan, Murcia town last Sunday.

“Based on the investigation, citing the statement of the victim’s live-in partner, he was last seen alive on Saturday night while on his way home. However, he did not reach their house; instead, he was found lifeless the next day,” Somblingo stated.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing.
