A 40-YEAR-OLD man was hacked to death by his own brother evening of Sept. 4, 2019 at Oton, Iloilo.
Lino de Leon suffered multiple hack injuries in different parts of his body.
Police Major Gervinson Molo, Oton police chief, said the incident happened while Lino was on his way home at Sitio Tuburan, Barangay Trapiche.
The suspect, 56-year-old Apolinario de Leon allegedly waylaid his brother and hacked him several times.
Apolinario immediately fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to the hospital where he died.
Moyo said their investigation indicated that Apolinario was suffering from nervous breakdown.
“But as to the medical evidences to back-up such claims, the family presented none,” he said.
It was gathered that the siblings live in a compound.
“Sabi ng mga kapatid nila, si Apolinario daw nagagalit kahit na mahulugan lang ng sanga ng puno ang bahay niya. Sasabihin n’ya na binabato s’ya,” Moyo said.
Before the incident happened, the suspect was quoted to have warned the victim, “Andam ka lang.”
Moyo said the suspect may have planned the attack.
Investigation is still going on while a manhunt is being conducted against Apolinario.
