BACOLOD City – Police have yet to identify a man who was found dead near a sugarcane field at Bangga Ibus, Barangay Tortosa, Manapla, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, town police chief, said the victim had injuries in the head and was hogtied when found by a passerby.

The victim’s mouth was covered with packing tape, he was found facing the ground.

Police recovered from the scene two fired .45 caliber bullets and a placard with the words, “Wag Tularan, Kawatan Ako.”

Bermudez said the victim was 35 to 40 years old, was wearing a black sando and a pair of blue shorts, with a tattoo on his left arm “Edgar Lusmenda.”

Despite this mark on the victim’s body, Bermudez said they failed to find any information that could identify him.

Bermudez said there was no missing individual reported in the town in the past weeks.

He believed that the victim could be from somewhere outside the town and was killed and dumped there.

The victim’s remains lie in a funeral home in the town.

He is appealing to those who may know the victim to surface so that they can have a lead in their investigation to identify the perpetrators.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the victim remains unidentified, according to Bermudez.
