BACOLOD City – Policemen are looking for five persons who allegedly mauled and stabbed a relative at Sitio Lumboy, Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jomar Pacolares, 34, of the said village, according to the police.

Police Captain Ellendie Rebusquillo, town police chief, said the victim was walking home when he was blocked by five suspects, whom he identified as his brother-in-law Onel Mohillo, 25; his stepson Marlon Pacolares, 20; and his cousins-in-law Jelvin Gari, Elvin Cariola, and Jeram Cariola, all residents of the said barangay.

Armed with bolos, air gun, and wood pole, the suspects, who reportedly came from a drinking session, allegedly attacked the victim, Rebusquillo said.

Jomar was able to escape and seek help from a neighbor, while the suspects fled.

He was then taken to a hospital after suffering stab wounds in his back, while also having head and shoulder pain. He was later referred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

Rebusquillo said grudges triggered the suspects to hurt the victim, as they suspected the latter as the one allegedly responsible for their missing fighting cocks.

Aside from that, they already had previous misunderstandings, the town police chief added.

Rebusquillo said they already have a lead on the whereabouts of the suspects.
