A man was injured following a gun attack on the afternoon of July 11 in Molo, Iloilo City. Jully Mendoza, 31, of Zone 6, Barangay Boulevard, Molo, survived the incident despite being shot in the chest.
According to reports, Mendoza was leaving his home when the shooting occurred. He was walking through an alley with his cousin and a young relative when Jude Abrasosa waylaid him.
The 35-year-old suspect allegedly told the victim, “Diri ka pa maagi. Maisog ka pa,” before pulling out a handgun and shooting him.
The wounded Mendoza managed to run and seek help from village officials. He was brought to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital for treatment.
Captain Gimel Acuesta, Iloilo City Police Station 4 chief, said the suspect fled immediately after the incident. A manhunt operation was conducted to arrest the suspect, but he remains at large as of this writing.
Acuesta mentioned that the victim and suspect used to be friends but had a falling out over an undisclosed reason.
He also noted they are not discounting the possibility that the incident could be drug-related since the suspect has been linked to illegal drugs.
In fact, Abrasosa was the subject of a recent buy-bust operation but managed to elude arrest.
Mendoza’s family is determined to file a case for frustrated murder against the suspect.
