A man is in jail for allegedly killing his brother evening of April 22, 2021 in Sara, Iloilo.

Angelico Tabanda, 48, of Barangay Tentay, Sara, is accused of repeatedly striking 53-year-old Dominador Tabanda with a shovel.

Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, Sara police chief, said Angelico voluntarily turned himself in to the police immediately after the incident.

Responding police officers took the victim to Sara District Hospital, but he was already dead on arrival.

Pamplona said the victim suffered injuries on his neck, head, and face.

Investigation showed that the two had misunderstandings in the past.

But earlier that day, Dominador allegedly confronted Angelico after the latter reportedly sprayed pesticides on his plants, thereby affecting the victim’s farm animals.

At around 9 pm Thursday, Dominador stormed Angelico’s house, which is just about 200 meters from where he lived.

Angelico said the victim shot him but missed.

He then grabbed a shovel and struck his brother with the shovel.

Pamplona said that their siblings who are residing in Iloilo agreed not to pursue a case against Angelico.

But their Manila-based sister had been telling her child to file criminal charges against the suspect.
