BACOLOD City – A young man is facing robbery charges after he allegedly robbed a woman on 17th Street in Barangay 7 here last Monday.

Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia, Police Station 2 deputy commander, said a criminal complaint was already filed yesterday against 22-year-old Allan Antiquera of Barangay Mansilingan here.

Ofalia said Antiquera was one of the three suspects on a motorcycle who allegedly robbed a 24-year-old woman who was walking on her way home.

Ofalia said Antiquera allegedly grabbed the woman’s bag and declared a hold-up.

But the woman was able to shout for help, prompting Antiquera’s companions to leave him behind, Ofalia said.

Antiquera was subdued by the bystanders, while a security guard nearby held the victim for safekeeping as police responded to the scene.

Police recovered from Antiquera the victim’s bag containing a cellular phone, a headset, umbrella, wallet containing P185, assorted Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, and Identification cards, as well as a kitchen knife.

Ofalia said that Antiquera initially denied the allegations against him, but later revealed the identities of his two companions.

Antiquera’s companions, who are still at large, were also charged for robbery.
