BACOLOD City – A man was arrested after he allegedly stole two fighting cocks owned by the father of a former vice mayor in Negros Occidental at Barangay Mansilingan here yesterday.
Arrested was Ryan Felizares, 29, of Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City.
Police Lieutenant Florentino Abalayan, head of Police Station 7, said Felizares was arrested at his house after he was identified by a witness.
Recovered from him were the two stolen fighting cocks worth P70,000 owned by 67-year-old Roberto Acaling, father of former E.B. Magalona vice mayor Robert Acaling.
Abalayan said theft charges were already filed against Felizares yesterday, who is detained at the said police station.
Abalayan said Felizares is not part of a syndicated group which targets to rob cock farms in the province, citing the robbery incident in Himamaylan City last Monday, victimizing former Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda.
Three days ago, Aranda’s 56 fighting cocks worth P850,000 were also stolen in a cock farm in Himamaylan City, and one of the two suspects was arrested in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
