Man, nephew injured in Cadiz fire

BACOLOD City – A man was injured after he saved his six-year-old nephew from a burning house at Hacienda Pasto, Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

Fire Officer Alexes Cosas of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said Pedro Recla and his six-year-old nephew sustained first-degree burns when the former rescued his sleeping nephew in one of the two houses which were destroyed by the fire.

Cosas said the fire broke out around 11:03 p.m. from the house of Gloria and his son, Allan Recla.

Cosas said the blaze was initially caused by an unattended candle when the house owners allegedly fell asleep during a power interruption. Cost of damaged was pegged at P50,000.

The BFP declared the fire out after two hours.
