BACOLOD City – Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, deputy public information officer of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), said yesterday that a
50-year-old man who reported a police officer for alleged indiscriminate firing in Talisay City on New Year’s Eve refused to pursue the complaint against the latter.
This, after the complainant submitted an affidavit of desistance, according to Donasco, who did not elaborate further on the complainant’s reason.
Despite the recent development, Donasco said that the policeman is still facing motu propio investigation due to the said report against him.
The cop was previously accused for the said alleged offense, following a misunderstanding between him and his neighbor over the car parking in their neighborhood.
Initially, police were not able to recover anything from the scene. But, the complainant turned over a slug four days after the incident happened.
Donasco said the slug based on the ballistic examination came from a .9mm caliber.
“But hindi siya conclusive na galing sa pulis na baril because he (cop) did not surrender his firearm until now,” she added.
Donasco said the policeman, with a rank of Executive Master Sergeant is still reporting for duty at Silay City Police Station, while the investigation on the matter is ongoing.
