A 24-year-old man survived a gun attack late evening of Nov. 26 at Pavia, Iloilo.
Sammy Guadaña was standing at the roadside near their family home at Barangay Anilao, Pavia when he was shot.
Witnesses pointed to Sammy’s older brother, 26-year-old Gio, as the assailant.
According to reports, the victim was helping a group of persons put up a Christmas tree for their inter-barangay Christmas tree-making contest when the incident happened.
The suspect just arrived from nowhere, went near his brother, and shot the latter.
The victim was hit in his chest.
Members of the Pavia Emergency Responders brought Sammy to the hospital.
Gio, on the other hand, fled on foot going to the main road and remains at large, as of this writing.
Staff Sergeant Arnel Escriba, Pavia police investigator, said that while Gio also resides in the same village, he hasn’t been going home since he had a misunderstanding with the victim.
The two had a fight over the manner in which Sammy allegedly disciplined their teenage brother.
But Escriba said they’re still investigating if there are other factors that triggered the bad blood between the two.
It was not yet known if Sammy would pursue criminal charges against his older sibling.
