Man shot after admonishing fighting groups

A man was shot after he admonished two groups of men who were fighting early in the morning of August 19 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.

Anthony Milliondaga, 57, of Project 2, Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh.

According to reports, the victim went to Project 6 in Barangay Sooc to buy cigarettes at around 2:45 a.m.

He allegedly passed by a commotion between two groups of men who were throwing empty bottles.

Milliondaga reportedly admonished the groups, telling them to stop what they were doing.

Shortly after, he heard a gunshot and felt pain in his thigh.

The victim was brought to Western Visayas Medical Center in the Mandurriao district.

Executive Master Sergeant Mark Olano, the chief investigator of Iloilo City Police Station 6, said they arrested Angelo Carman, 48, and Harris Poe, 31, both residents of Project 6, Sooc, at around 6 a.m. on Monday.

CCTV footage indicated that Carman shot the victim. After the incident, he allegedly handed his gun to Poe before fleeing the crime scene.

Olano said both suspects denied involvement in the incident. A case for attempted homicide is being prepared against the suspects.
