Man shot, hacked dead at home

BACOLOD City – Police are still probing the incident that killed a man inside his house at Purok Paglaum, Barangay Kumaliskis, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

Police withheld the name of the 54-year-old victim.

The victim was found lifeless at his home after several gunshots were heard early morning that day.

He suffered a gunshot wound in the head and a slit on his neck, according to the police.

Police recovered from the scene two fired bullets from a .45 caliber pistol. They have yet to establish a motive and identify the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, in Kabankalan City, a man was stabbed dead due to drunkenness at Purok Patag, Barangay Bantayan last Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Elmer Merwar, 29, of the said village.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the victim and 40-year-old suspect Leo Sait were having a drinking session when a heated argument ensued between them.

The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim with a bolo and fled.

The victim was brought to a hospital, but he passed away the following day, according to the police.
