BACOLOD City – A man died after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his elder brother over an argument inside their quarters at Sitio Biaren, Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Slain was Elmer Pedro, 25, of Barangay Uloc, Lawaan, Antique.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said that prior to the incident, the victim and his brother Alvin, 45, were having an argument while they were harvesting sugarcane crops. Their altercation continued when Alvin went to their quarters, where Elmer allegedly challenged him into a fistfight.
Guadalupe said Alvin then suddenly attacked Elmer with a knife. Elmer sustained multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at a hospital.
“They have no grudge against each other until the altercation happened, which caused the incident,” Guadalupe said.
Alvin was arrested and will be charged for homicide. “They’ve been staying here for more than three months as they would usually come here during harvest period,” the city police chief said.
Guadalupe said the Pedro family is scheduled to arrive in the province this week.
