ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 22-year-old laborer was stabbed to death early Tuesday, September 9, in Sitio Cassandra, Barangay Punta Tabuc, a village reportedly known for illegal drug activities.
The victim was identified by police as John Mark Macaspac, a resident of Barangay Banica, Roxas City, and was living with his partner.
Police said they were alerted by a tipster identified only as “Rengie,” who reported that a man had been stabbed by an unknown suspect at around 2:20 a.m.
Responding officers and members of the city’s emergency response team arrived at the scene and administered first aid before bringing the victim to Roxas Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Dan Vincent Fuentes declared the victim dead on arrival due to two fatal stab wounds to the chest.
Recovered from the crime scene were a knife, a mobile phone, a wristwatch, a glass tooter, and a silver necklace.
Police said they are investigating the incident to determine the motive and identify the suspect.
Authorities noted that Sitio Cassandra is allegedly a hotspot for illegal drug activity, where anti-drug operations are frequently conducted due to the presence of prohibited substances and known drug dens.
