BACOLOD CITY – A 45-year-old man was fatally stabbed by a warehouse helper following a heated argument during a drinking session in Barangay Tangub on Monday, police reported.
The victim, identified as Ireneo Pangatihon of Murcia, Negros Occidental, was allegedly attacked by the 40-year-old suspect from Pulupandan town.
According to Police Captain Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, the altercation broke out during the drinking session, leading to the stabbing incident as they were about to head home.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the argument that led to the fatal attack. The suspect remains at large.
Meanwhile, a woman is in critical condition after being stabbed in Barangay 12, Bacolod City, on Tuesday.
Police Major Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 1, said the attack occurred following an argument over a “customer” related to an alleged lewd transaction.
The victim was stabbed twice in the chest and is currently being treated at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle driven by her live-in partner.
In a separate incident on Sept. 14, a 32-year-old woman was shot dead in Barangay II (Poblacion), La Carlota City.
Police identified the victim as “Kayzie” from Barangay I (Poblacion).
According to Police Captain Rosinie Cabuena, deputy chief of La Carlota City Police Station, the victim was shot by an unidentified person on a motorcycle.
She sustained two gunshot wounds to the head and body and died in the hospital the following morning.
Police recovered a deformed slug, two spent shells, and a magazine loaded with six live rounds from a .45 caliber firearm at the scene.
While the victim was not on a drug watchlist, police are investigating the possibility that the shooting may be drug-related.
