BACOLOD City – A man died after he was stabbed by his older brother at Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Bacong, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

The victim was identified as Arturo Vicente, 58.

Police Master Sergeant Erwin Jamandre, case investigator of Bago City Police Station, said Vicente and his older brother Hernane, 65, figured in an argument early that day.

When they chanced upon each other later that day, Hernane tried to avoid the victim by running away from him.

But the victim chased Hernane until he caught up with the latter and challenged him to a fight.

Jamandre said the brothers argued once more until Hernane stabbed the victim with a knife.

“Naglikaw na ni ang suspect (Hernane) tani kay kabalo siya nakainom na ang utod niya (victim) pero gin lagas siya gihapon kag ginhangkat,” Jamandre said.

Jamandre said the victim suffered a lone stab wound and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Jamandre said Hernane surrendered to the police the following day, but he failed to turn over the bladed weapon, as he allegedly threw it in a sugarcane field after the incident.

The suspect said he got irked by the victim’s “loud mouth.”

“Na impito na daw siya sa utod niya (victim) kay grabe kuno baba,” the investigator said.

Jamandre said the victim’s son and their family refused to file charges against Hernane.
