40-year-old Ronyl Fernandez turned himself in after allegedly attacking his younger brother on the evening of March 31 in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Fernandez, a resident of Barangay Bantud Fabrica, Dumangas, contended that he had a compelling reason for the assault.

The incident began when Ronald, the 33-year-old victim, reportedly burst into his brother’s home early Sunday evening. At the time, Ronyl was not present.

Ronald is accused of damaging parts of the house with a bolo, including a column and the bamboo lattice.

Upon learning of the vandalism, Ronyl hastened back. Before he arrived, he found Ronald asleep near their aunt’s piggery.

Ronyl confronted Ronald to question his violent actions, leading to a fierce verbal exchange.

During the argument, Ronyl is said to have grabbed his bolo and struck his brother.

Ronald suffered wounds to his neck, shoulder, and the right side of his body. He was quickly taken to Ramon Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas for medical attention.
