ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man who killed a 58-year-old laborer Wednesday night at Sitio Bato in Barangay Goce, President Roxas, Capiz, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities Thursday morning.
Gregorio Bating Jr. of said place sought the help of a village council member in Pilar town to bring him to the police station.
Bating said that he was merely carried by his emotions when he hacked Estelito Garcia Jr. to death.
He also asked forgiveness from Garcia’s family.
Bating said he sought the help of the barangay kagawad for fear that the victim’s family might retaliate.
Police Captain Rachel Garnica, President Roxas Municipal Police Station chief, said a murder charge will be filed against Bating before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Garnica said there was treachery in Bating’s case which is an element of murder.
The victim was last seen alive in a drinking binge at the house of the suspect also in Goce village.
