BACOLOD City – Member-consumers of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) here and in some parts of Negros Occidental experienced a series of unscheduled power interruption on October 11 and 12.
Ceneco, through its official Facebook page, explained that bad weather caused the power interruption.
Based on photos posted on social media, heavy rains and strong winds brought about by Severe Tropical Storm “Maring” toppled trees that tangled with power lines.
Ceneco said it affected their distribution system and tripped off several feeders.
Tree clearing activities, replacement of suspension insulator, and stringing of the Bacolod-Silay 69kV were immediately conducted to restore power last Monday.
Several netizens expressed their sentiments to Ceneco on social media after experiencing power interruption four times here last Monday, and two more the following day.
Ceneco apologized to member-consumers and asked for their patience as they resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, a tornado was reported in Barangay 18 here, causing a minor blaze after a power transformer allegedly exploded after heavy rains occurred on Tuesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
Flooding was also reported in some parts of Barangay Mansilingan here due to persistent rain.
Clearing operation in some areas here was also conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to remove uprooted trees from blocking the road.
