One of the most decorated mixed martial artist in the Philippines won’t be seeing action for a couple of months in the UFC following the cancelation of his debut bout.
Everyone was shocked after seeing Mark Striegl’s name out of the undercard fight lineup for August 23, 2020 and immediately getting replaced by a different fighter, days before the proposed fight.
Afterwards, the 32-year-old veteran champion revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19, leading to him being automatically pulled-out of his bout.
“I tested positive for COVID-19 and my August 22 UFC fight is cancelled. You can never be too careful these days. Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m looking forward to bouncing back! Thank you to the UFC for taking care of me and to everyone for all your support! Stay safe everyone,” Striegl said.
Striegl added that he is feeling mild symptoms of the virus but is fine and will continue to seek medical advice and follow what the doctors recommend.
Expect the former Universal Reality Combat Championship champion to get back into action as soon as he is cleared by the medical team.
