Masbate resident arrested in Capiz drug bust

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Approximately P34,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs were recovered from a 41-year-old laborer from Masbate province during a buy-bust operation on Saturday afternoon, June 15, in Brgy. Banica here.

Junrey Ramilo, a native of Masbate and temporarily residing at Sitio Tulay in Brgy. Banica, was arrested by joint operatives from the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-Capiz).

Ma. Melinda Panaguiton, Provincial Officer of PDEA-Capiz, said the operation followed a week of monitoring and surveillance. She added that the suspect is a street-level individual on the police drug watch list.

Recovered from the suspect were several sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Ramilo is currently under the custody of the Roxas City PNP station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed today, June 17.

In a separate buy-bust, a 63-year-old senior citizen was arrested on Saturday afternoon, June 15, at Barangay Yatingan, Pontevedra, Capiz.

Recovered from the suspect, known as alias Harley, were nine sachets of suspected illegal drugs, a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine, and six live rounds of ammunition.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station. Charges for violation of RA 9165 and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) will be filed against him.
