Today and tomorrow will bring smiles to Ilonggo sports enthusiasts.
A lineup of sporting events will be spearheaded by the Iloilo City Sports Development Division, Iloilo City Government, and the JB Amateur Basketball League (JB ABL) that are highly-anticipated by hundreds of Ilonggo athletes.
Through Executive Assistant for Sports Mr. Rudiver Jungco Sr., events for table tennis, chess, badminton, and skateboarding will take place under the Mayor Jerry P. Treñas tournament.
Today, the 2nd Mayor Treñas chess tournament, 2nd Mayor Treñas table tennis tournament, 2nd Mayor Treñas badminton tournament, and the 2nd Mayor Treñas skateboarding tournament will be taking place simultaneously in different venues.
The chess tourney will be held in City Mall Parola, the table tennis tourney in North Fundidor Gym Molo, the badminton shuttlers will flock to Villa Arevalo District Gym and the skateboarding competition will be held in the Iloilo Public Skate Park.
With Mr. Jungco Sr.’s advocacy of safe sporting while embracing the new normal of sports, strict implementation of the safety protocols will be observed in accordance with the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the most-awaited JB ABL festivity will begin with a three-point shootout king event.
JB ABL founder and Commissioner Jayphet Balbacal will kick-off his basketball spree of events with a shootout and will be graced by Iloilo’s deadliest shooters separated into two categories.
The first category will be the main where the previous teams joining the league will compose the participants and the second category will feature all the ball clubs in Iloilo.
A surprise category was also organized by Mr. Balbacal and will be witnessed tomorrow that will involve all the head honchos of the teams.
