ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Mayor Mac Arthur Valdemar of Jamindan town shrugged off overpricing issues on the purchase of heavy equipment by the local government unit (LGU).

Valdemar made the denial after a concerned citizen questioned the controversial loan of Jamindan LGU used to buy heavy equipment which cost higher than the original price.

Valdemar said that there is no truth to the allegations considering that the procurement team meticulously oversaw the purchases.

He said that the prices indicated in the proposal are exact as they wanted to acquire durable, good quality, and branded heavy equipment from legitimate suppliers.

Valdemar clarified that this is the first time since 2014 that the town will borrow again to buy heavy equipment to be used for the construction of barangay roads.

The town will borrow P69 million for the project.

The mayor said that before the May 2022 election, municipal officials have planned to acquire a loan in order to solve the bad road problems of the town.
