Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has reminded the public that the prohibition on the public consumption of alcoholic drinks in the city remain in effect despite the gradual opening of leisure and entertainment venues.

In a statement on Wednesday, the mayor reiterated the ban while the city is still under the Alert Level 2 classification.

“I wish to remind everyone that public consumption of alcoholic drinks is not yet allowed by the IATF. Let us wait for the IATF to decide on the matter,” he said.

The mayor issued executive order (E.O.) No. 137 on Tuesday mandating the guidelines for establishments under the Alert Level 2 classification.

The EO allowed more sectors to open for fully vaccinated individuals at a maximum of 50% in indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals only and 70% outdoor venue capacity provided that the employees are also fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Under the E.O. effective until November 30, leisure and entertainment venues particularly those with live voice or wind-instrument performers and audiences such as karaoke bars, clubs, concert halls and theaters may now operate at a prescribed maximum capacity.

Contact sports approved by the local government unit (LGU) where such games shall be held shall also be allowed.

Funfairs and kid amusement industries such as playgrounds, playroom, and kiddie rides will also be allowed to operate.

However, the public consumption of liquor in Iloilo City shall remain until the end of November. The sale of alcoholic drinks shall be limited from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. only.

Following the easing of restrictions, some resto bars and entertainment establishments at the night life capital in the metro, the Smallville Complex in Mandurriao district have also reopened.

For one, the famous MO2 Resto Bar has also reopened its doors to its patrons last Tuesday featuring live music from local bands and DJs. (ERS)
