ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Border checkpoints and a ban on mass gatherings are among the policies that will be enforced in Roxas City which was placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from June 1-16, 2021.
Border control checkpoints were established in Barangays Lonoy, Adlawan, Balijuagan, Tanza, Milibili, and Bato.
Police and the Philippines Army personnel will be divided into three sections to strictly enforce the 10pm-4am curfew.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said in a meeting that mass gatherings such as fiesta, baptism, gambling in a wake, among others, are strictly prohibited.
The implementation of the face mask ordinance, prohibiting senior citizens and persons 18 years old and below from getting outside of the residences, and limiting the number of passengers in public utility vehicles will also be fully enforced.
Visits to public plazas, parks, including swimming in the beach and swimming pools are discouraged.
Non-essential travelers to the city are also not allowed in the city.
A 20 percent capacity limit is imposed on restaurants and liquor ban is in effect in public places.
Dadivas asked the full support of residents and village officials in following MECQ health protocols to contain the pandemic.
CURFEW VIOLATORS
Meanwhile, nine individuals were arrested for violating curfew hours on the first day of the MECQ regime.
Barangay Police Auxiliary Teams (BPAT) conducting roving patrol at Barangay Punta Tabuc here chanced upon the violators.
They were turned over to the Roxas City PNP and will be required to render community service.
