
MORE Electric and Power Corp (MORE Power) recently inaugurated its 30/36MVA Megaworld substation in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, as part of its massive modernization of the city’s distribution grid.
The substation is a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and sustainability.
During the inauguration ceremony, Enrique K. Razon, Jr., the principal owner of MORE Power, expressed his gratitude to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas and Kevin Andrew Tan, CEO of Alliance Global-a parent company of Megaworld, stakeholders, and employees who have contributed to the project’s success.
Mr. Razon, together with the directors and officers of MORE Power, reiterated its commitment to support the growth of the region, “We are proud to have been part of Iloilo’s journey, towards progress and will remain committed to contributing to the region’s economic and social development”.
The inauguration was also attended by Mayor Jerry Treñas of the City of Iloilo, who acknowledged the efforts of MORE Power in helping the city reach its goal of becoming one of the topmost livable highly urbanized cities in the Philippines.
He commended MORE Power for upgrading its facilities and making necessary repairs even during the COVID-19 pandemic, deploying teams 24/7, and keeping communication lines open to quickly respond to consumers’ concerns.
Moreover, Mayor Treñas praised the company’s professional customer service, making customers feel valued.
“You have the Iloilo City LGU as your indispensable partner and we will help you in whatever way we can. We look forward to all the positive impacts that our continued and prospective collaborations on future projects will be achieved for our beloved Ilonggos”, Treñas said.
Roel Castro, President and CEO of MORE Power, highlighted the state-of-the-art features of the substation, which can be controlled and operated off-site in the control center.
The substation is SCADA-ready, which means it can communicate with all the substations. The new control center will also be operational by the end of the year.
This substation sets the standard for the company’s electric service infrastructure in Iloilo, which is reliable, adequate, stable, and competitively priced.
“This is one of the latest in the state-of-the-art in the country right now. So, all of these is geared towards electric service infrastructure in Iloilo right now is very reliable, adequate, stable and should be competitively priced,” Castro proudly stated.
Kevin Andrew Tan of expressed his gratitude for being part of the initiative and for joining MORE Power in its effort to boost Iloilo’s power capacity and reliability while providing cost-efficient electricity service to the community through this brand-new modern substation.
He shared the vision of transforming Iloilo City into a world-class investment hub in this part of the country, which he said they equally share with the Iloilo City LGU and MORE Power.
Tan also took pride in Iloilo Business Park, a 72-hectare township, which is currently Megaworld’s most successful function outside of Luzon.
The park is home to 25,000 employees, working in ten office towers, and eight residential condominium towers, with a total inventory of 2,500 best-in-class residential units. Six towers are currently under construction, and it’s home to two five-star hotels with a combined 500 rooms.
