
Manila Electric Company (Meralco) secured ten Silver Anvil Awards at the 60th Anvil Awards, recognizing its excellence in public service, employee engagement, and digital transformation.
The company, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, was also a finalist for Company of the Year, an honor given to organizations that submit the highest quality entries and accumulate the most points based on Anvil trophies received.
Meralco’s “Goodbye, Spaghetti Wires: The Meralco Anti-Urban Blight Program” led its list of award-winning campaigns, highlighting efforts to address urban blight and ensure public safety.
Its yearlong energy security campaign, “With Great Power Comes Great Reliability: Meralco’s Campaign to Address the Energy Challenges During the Summer and Typhoon Season”, also earned recognition for educating customers on power reliability.
Meralco was also honored for leveraging digital communications with “Shaping Future-Ready Communications: Meralco Newsroom’s Leap Into Digital Excellence”, showcasing its move toward digital transformation.
The digital documentary “Empowering Women in Energy: Suzette Castro’s Journey” was recognized for promoting gender inclusivity by highlighting a female Meralco line crew member balancing work and motherhood in a male-dominated field.
Another inclusive initiative, “Empowerment Through Sports: A Soft Tennis Clinic Promoting Inclusivity Among People with Disabilities”, was awarded for fostering acceptance and empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Meralco’s employee engagement efforts were also recognized, with “Strengthening Workforce Knowledge and Values Through the Meralco Way Training Program” and “Forging the Future of Engineering: The Meralco Cadet Engineering Program” both earning Silver Anvils.
The company’s internal communications strategy was honored through “Transforming Employee Communications Through the Meralco News Revival”, which enhanced internal information dissemination and employee engagement.
Meralco’s corporate social development arm, One Meralco Foundation, won two Silver Anvils for programs supporting electrification and community development:
“Household Electrification Program”, which extends power to underserved communities, and
“Electrification for Development: Improving Agriculture in Mindanao”, which supports rural agricultural initiatives.

The Anvil Awards, organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), is the country’s most prestigious recognition for excellence in public relations, honoring programs, campaigns, and communication tools that uphold the highest industry standards.
