Eight staffers of Miagao, Iloilo’s Municipal Health Office contracted COVID-19, prompting a lockdown of the facility until further notice.
In an advisory, the town’s municipal mayor, Dr. Macario Napulan confirmed that eight staff of Miagao Municipal Health Office tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Napulan, most of the positive patients are asymptomatic or manifested no signs and symptoms of Covid-19.
“All of our active cases are currently managed at our quarantine facilities and mostly are asymptomatic,” he said in the advisory issued last February 5, 2021.
Miagao LGU said the Municipal Health Office has been temporarily closed since Feb. 5, until further notice as part of the town’s preventive measure against COVID-19.
As of Feb. 8, the total registered cases in the town jumped to 123 with 102 recoveries and 19 active cases, based on its Municipal Health Office Covid-19 Monitoring Team.
All the 19 active cases are government employees and are currently staying in the town’s facility quarantine.
Meanwhile, 28 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are also under quarantine in a separate facility.
Following the sudden surge of COVID-19 cases from the town’s health office, Napulan appealed to the residents to continue practicing minimum health standards and protocols.
“While the members of our Local Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Contact Tracing Team are doubling their efforts to subdue the spread of the disease, we are urging everyone to stay calm and strictly practice the minimum health standards and protocols,” Napulan said. (ERS)
