MIESCOR, Terra Solar Ink Deal to Link Solar Plant to Luzon Grid

MIESCOR, the engineering and operations subsidiary of Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO), has signed an agreement with Terra Solar Philippines, Inc. (TSPI) to design and build key infrastructure to connect a massive solar power plant to the Luzon grid. The project will play a crucial role in advancing the country’s renewable energy capacity.

“MIESCOR plays a crucial role in connecting the Terra Solar plant to the grid, and we are excited to be part of this groundbreaking step in renewable energy,” said MIESCOR President and CEO Richard O. Ochava.

Under the agreement, MIESCOR will construct a 34.5/230/500-kilovolt (kV) Main Collector Substation, two 34.5/230-kV Solar PV Satellite Collector Substations, and two double-circuit 230-kV Transmission Lines.

These infrastructures are essential to linking the 3,500-megawatt peak (MWp) solar plant to the grid.

Site operations are already in progress, and the first phase of the project, which will provide 2,500 MWp, is scheduled for completion by 2026, with the second phase expected in 2027.

The project will be the largest solar facility with battery storage in the Philippines, featuring a 4,500 megawatt-hour (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.

“MIESCOR is fully committed to advancing renewable energy infrastructure. Our goal is to become a leading force in the renewable energy sector and in promoting sustainable development in the Philippines,” Ochava added.
