Fresh off a stellar US NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis outing during his rookie year with the Penn State University Nittany Lions, Miko Eala is looking to take the US by storm come his sophomore year.
Miko, Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala’s older brother, impressed in the recently concluded Liberty Hidden Dual tennis series and provided a 3-0 singles record for the Nittany Lions.
The 19-year-old upcoming star dispatched the participants from UPenn, Liberty, and the Old Dominion who only dropped two total set points in an impressive three-match stint.
Miko first tackled Liberty’s Christian Worst, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, followed by a sweeping victory over Yehven Sirous of Old Dominion, 6-4, 6-4, and a thrilling win against Kevin Zhu of Penn, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6.
The Filipino picked up where he left off after delivering two men’s singles victories for Penn State last NCAA tournament and earned praises from his head coach Paul Tobin once again.
“Huge win for Miko today, clinching the win against Penn. We started off strong in singles, and managed to keep the momentum going,” said coach Tobin posted by Penn state’s official athletic website.
Miko proved to be one of the most reliable players in the singles category as he fell in the doubles event together with partner Charl Morgan.
Like his sister Alex, Miko is also a product of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy and already earned his diploma from the prestigious tennis school.
