The Milwaukee Bucks earned a much-needed victory after taking down the league-leading Boston Celtics squad, 104-91, in the ongoing NBA regular season on April 10, 2024.
Longing for a victory after suffering four straight defeats in their previous outings, the Bucks stomped on the Celtics early in the game to score the wire-to-wire win.
Milwaukee immediately blew the game wide-open after establishing a 16-point lead at the end of the opening frame, 37-21, and ballooned it to 20 heading into the second half when they outscored the Celtics in the following period.
Despite Boston finally regaining their three-point shooting and perimeter sets, the Bucks reverted to attacking the basket at the start of the fourth which helped them seize the tempo of the game.
Milwaukee had a balanced scoring night, receiving double-digit scoring from six of their players led by veteran point guard Patrick Beverley who fired 20 points on an efficient 8/13 shooting from the field.
The defensive guard turned things around for Milwaukee midway through the second quarter, sinking wide-open three-pointers while also converting his floaters at the top of the key.
Aside from his 20-point night, Beverley also crashed the boards for the Bucks, grabbing 10 rebounds while assisting the ball three times to his teammates.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis Jr. all scored 15 points in the win while the duo of Khris Middleton and Damian Lillard each scored 12 points.
Milwaukee’s win also halted Boston’s five-game winning streak while holding them to an NBA record of 0 free throws attempted during the 48-minute game.
For the first time in NBA history, the Celtics became the only team without a single attempt from the charity stripe. On the other hand, the Bucks only went to the line twice.
