BACOLOD City – A teenage boy died while another was injured in a shooting incident at Barangay Sikatuna, Isabela, Negros Occidental Saturday night.

Killed was Arnel Tamayo, 12 while wounded is Roslem Panes, 24.

Police Captain Roger Pama, town police chief, said the minor’s father and suspect Junebeth Canuil, 34 had a misunderstanding after coming from a drinking session but they were both pacified by Bienvinido Panes.

However, the suspect came back with an improvised shotgun and confronted the minor’s father who was allegedly armed with a bladed weapon.

The suspect fired at the minor’s father first but his son, who was also at the area, was hit by the bullet on his throat, which caused his death.

Canuil also shot Roslem prompting the group of the minor’s father to attack him with a bladed weapon.

Roslem and Canuil were brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for sustaining gunshot wounds and hack wounds, respectively.

Pama said they have yet to determine the motive but they are eyeing drunkeness as the initial cause of the incident.

Canuil is under hospital arrest and will be facing murder and frustrated murder charges.
