BACOLOD City – A man was stabbed to death by his female co-worker at Barangay Jerusalem, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police identified the victim as Ronaldo Hornago, 54, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Lester Oliveros, deputy police chief of Cadiz City Police Station, said the 17-year-old suspect was having coffee that morning when she was allegedly hit by the victim after having a misunderstanding on Thursday night.
Oliveros said the suspect then got irked and allegedly stabbed the victim with a belt knife.
The victim sustained a lone stab wound on the chest and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Oliveros said the victim and the suspect had an argument when the former reportedly asked the latter to give additional contribution for their food at the quarters.
However, they probably didn’t reach a favorable agreement that caused their misunderstanding, he added.
Oliveros said that the victim and the suspect were working as sugarcane workers in a hacienda, and were living in the quarters with another companion.
Oliveros said the suspect was later arrested at the said village and was turned over to the custody of the City Social Welfare Development (CSWD) facility.
