BACOLOD City – Winners of the Miss Bacolod MassKara 2022, one of the highlights of this year’s MassKara celebration, will represent the city in national beauty pageants.
Pageant chairperson Carlos Durana said this year’s pageant is rebranded from MassKara Queen in recent years to Miss Bacolod MassKara.
“As we mark a new era under the administration of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, our festival organizer decided to rebrand our festival queen title,” Durana said.
More than a MassKara Queen, “our winners also carry the name of Bacolod City,” he added.
“When our winners take on the bigger stage in national pageants, we want to take pride that these beauties are proudly Bacolodnons.”
Miss Bacolod MassKara winners will bring home bigger cash prizes on top of other items.
There will be five winners – Miss Bacolod MassKara-Universe who will receive P150,000 in cash prize; Miss Bacolod MassKara-World (P100,000), Miss Bacolod MassKara-International (P80,000) while the first and second runners-up will receive P50,000 and P30,000, respectively.
The top three winners will represent the city in national beauty pageants based on their respective titles.
The pageant night will be held on Oct. 19, at the University of St. La Salle coliseum.
Out of the 90 who applied to join the pageant, only 15 qualified.
Durana pointed out that the candidates have roots in the city or are studying here which made them qualified to join the pageant amid questions that some candidates are non-Bacolod residents.
