A person who was reported missing in Bacolod City turned up dead in Iloilo City.
A day after his body was found in Iloilo, relatives of 28-year-old Christian Cofreros positively identified him Saturday afternoon.
Cofreros’ mother, 59-year-old Rebecca, and his 26-year-old wife Daisy identified the victim from Purok Kawayan, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.
His body was found in the morning of March 6, 2020 at the Circumferential Road in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo. He suffered two wounds on the right side of his face.
Daisy said she last saw her husband alive on March 4.
The following day, the wife reported to the Bacolod City police that her husband went missing.
Cofreros was not immediately identified when his body was found in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Police investigators went to Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo after reports claiming that the slain man was seen in the area.
But residents and village officials claimed that Cofreros was never seen in their village.
This led Police Major Regina Roquim, Arevalo police chief, to ask for the media’s help in identifying the victim.
During media interviews, Roquim described the victim as sporting a barber’s cut hairstyle with medium build, and 5 feet and 5 inches tall.
The victim wore a red pair of shorts and a blue t-shirt.
“A friend of his wife heard the report and called her up asking what Cofreros was wearing when he left their house,” Roquim said.
As the description matched Cofreros, the two women traveled to Iloilo City where their fears were confirmed.
Cofreros was a collector of RX Express lending company.
But Police Colonel Henry Biñas, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, said Cofreros is on their watch list of illegal drug personalities.
How he ended up in Iloilo City, “that’s something that we need to further investigate,” Roquim said.
