BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, led candidates for the 2025 midterm elections in a unity walk and peace covenant signing over the weekend.

Garcia-Yulo, who is seeking a third term, was joined by her husband, Felix Matias Segundo Feria Yulo III, her running mate for vice mayor, and her slate of candidates for municipal council.

The event was organized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Army, the Moises Padilla local government, and various religious groups.

The activity began with a unity walk from the PNP station to the municipal auditorium, followed by an interfaith prayer and the signing of the peace covenant.

By signing the covenant, the candidates committed to:

  1. Following the law and abiding by the Constitution, election laws, and COMELEC regulations.
  2. Campaigning fairly by presenting their platforms and avoiding personal attacks.
  3. Ensuring clean and transparent elections by rejecting vote-buying, fraud, and intimidation.
  4. Taking responsibility for the actions of their campaign teams.
  5. Accepting the election results with integrity and full respect for the people’s decision.

Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor, a former ally of Garcia-Yulo and now her challenger, also participated in the event, along with incumbent Councilor Beauty Nazareno, who is running for vice mayor, and other candidates for councilor.
