BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has recorded three additional coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among their personnel, bringing the total to 49 cases, as of April 6, 2021.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s deputy information officer.
Donasco said that the three new COVID-infected non-commissioned officers were assigned in a police station at the northern part of the province.
Donasco said that the three infected cops were swabbed on April 4 through their local government unit’s swab testing initiative, and results of their tests later showed that they tested positive for the virus.
Donasco said that they were among the local cases in the province. All three are asymptomatic and are now in a quarantine facility.
She said that Nocppo has now six active COVID cases.
Meanwhile, seven personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) who were infected with COVID-19 received financial assistance from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 yesterday.
Police Colonel Manuel Placido, BCPO director turned over the cash assistance amounting to P6,000 each to the beneficiaries.
This initiative was hailed by the personnel as it helped them in their expenses.
Placido, in his message, expressed his gratitude to Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, PRO-6 director, for looking after the morale and welfare of the BCPO personnel.
