BACOLOD City – Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 continue to go up in this city.
Data from the Department of Health Region 6 showed that Bacolod City had 128 new cases, 53 new recoveries, and 1 more death on Sunday.
All the 128 new cases are local transmissions.
On Saturday, the DOH reported 178 new cases, 42 new recoveries, and 3 more deaths.
Cumulative cases in the city is at 10,300 with 1,473 active cases.
Earlier, a group of medical practitioners aired concern over the seemingly rapid increase in COVID -19 infections in the city.
Dr. Dolores Rommela Ruiz, president of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases said they noticed that COVID cases are rapidly spreading among family members.
Hospitals in this city are also overwhelmed by the growing number of COVID patients.
Ruiz also said that there are more severe and critical cases of Covid.
Some patients who are awaiting admission had to be intubated.
