Uswag Ilonggo Party-list Rep. Jojo Ang, alongside Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and Second District Rep. Michael Gorriceta, led the groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremony for an PHP 85-million sports complex and school building project in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
The PHP 55-million sports complex at Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School aims to serve the entire second district of Iloilo. The facility will feature a grandstand and an Olympic-sized track oval for sports events, tourism activities, and youth training programs.
Additionally, the PHP 30-million Phase 1 of a proposed three-unit, two-story, four-classroom school building will address Sta. Barbara’s increasing student population and the shortage of classrooms.
“This is for our children, to strengthen their talents and abilities. With Gov. Toto Defensor Jr., Regional Chairman Cong. Mike Gorriceta, Doc Kathy Gorriceta, Mayor Dennis Superficial, Vice Mayor Beloy Maquino, Liga President Larry Deatras, Principal III Felly Malones, and all our local officials and the DPWH, we will ensure that this project is completed next year for you,” Ang said.
Mayor Dennis Superficial expressed gratitude for the initiative, saying, “This project will put Sta. Barbara in the limelight for sports and education. Thank you to our hardworking party-list representatives and officials who made this possible.”
This project adds to the Uswag Ilonggo Party-list’s ongoing efforts to improve school infrastructure across Region 6 in partnership with the Department of Education.
