Over 2,000 senior citizens and individuals who are immunocompromised have been inoculated with their first dose of Covid-19 jabs.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said he was happy with the huge turn-out of senior citizens who availed of the city government’s Covid-19 vaccine roll-out which started last week.

Masobra 2,000 senior citizens and immunocompromised ang nabakunahan.  Happy gid ko kay we are able to vaccinate over 2,000,” he said in an interview on the Uswag Patrol program of the city government.

The Iloilo City government has started the vaccination of elderlies and immunocompromised last April 21, 2021 in vaccination sites particularly at the Central Philippine University (CPU) and the SM City Iloilo Cinema.

The mayor, who is also a senior citizen and immunocompromised, was among those who availed of the Covid-19 vaccines last week.

Aside from the senior citizens and immunocompromised, 150 out of the 180 barangay captains in the metro were also inoculated.

The barangay captains including kagawads, tanods and other barangay officials were also included in the city’s vaccination roll-out as members of the Barangay Health and Response Team (BHERTs)

Meanwhile, the mayor urged other elderlies and immunocompromised in the metro to have themselves pre-registered for the Covid-19 jabs to serve as protection against Covid-19.

He also encouraged residents and non-city residents who are working in the metro to pre-register with their respective barangays or at the designated Covid-19 vaccination sites in the metro.

Ang tanan nga pumuluyo registered voters maskin indi registered, pwede kapabakuna. Ginaagda ko ang tanan, parehas sa akon, magpabakuna kamo para may proteksyon kamo batok sa Covid-19,” he said.

The city’s vaccination registration sites at Robinson’s Place Iloilo-Main, SM City Iloilo, and Festive Walk Mall are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except on weekends for those who wish to pre-register for the vaccines.

As of April 16, over 11,000 elderlies and persons with immunocompromised have pre-registered for the vaxx roll-out. (ERS)
