A stabbing incident in Passi City, Iloilo on the evening of March 17 left a mother and her son with serious injuries within the confines of their residence.

The police identified the victims as 42-year-old Analyn and her 23-year-old son Eddie, both hailing from Sitio Pulacan, Barangay Agtabo, Passi City.

The assailant, 38-year-old Rubel Nailgas from nearby Barangay Nueva Union, Passi City, reportedly stormed into their home while the two were in conversation and inflicted stab wounds on Analyn’s thigh and on Eddie’s left leg and upper back.

After the attack, Nailgas promptly fled the scene. However, Staff Sergeant Roderick Larida, the investigating officer from the Passi City police, reported that Nailgas was apprehended around 10 p.m. on the same day.

Early findings suggest jealousy as a possible motive. Nailgas has claimed to be in a romantic relationship with Analyn, whose spouse is employed overseas, and believed she was involved with another man frequently seen at her home.

Analyn, however, has firmly rejected any romantic ties with Nailgas, stating that he was considered part of the family due to his past as a carpenter working at their home.

Larida disclosed that the police intend to charge Nailgas with two counts of frustrated murder for his actions.
