A 31-year-old motorcycle taxi driver was arrested during a firearm raid in Cabatuan, Iloilo, on the morning of November 11.
Police identified the suspect only as alias Noel, a resident of Barangay Janipaan Olo, Cabatuan.
Members of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station conducted the raid based on an arrest warrant for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo, on November 7, 2024.
The police team, led by Capt. Aileen Lacrite, recovered a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
Lacrite said the search followed complaints about the suspect’s alleged indiscriminate firing.
She noted that Noel had no previous arrests and was not facing any other criminal charges.
The suspect is currently detained pending the filing of a criminal case for violating RA 10591.
