BACOLOD CITY—A motorcycle rider died after colliding with a Ceres bus liner in Barangay 3, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday night.

Police identified the victim as Jarell Joseph Ledesma, 25, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Police Captain Rosinie Cabuena, deputy chief of the La Carlota City Police Station, said the victim was identified by his aunt on Sunday.

According to Cabuena, the initial investigation revealed that the victim reportedly suddenly crossed the road and collided with a bus driven by a 41-year-old Bacolod City resident.

The impact caused the victim to fall to the ground, sustaining injuries. Cabuena noted that the victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries a few minutes later, Cabuena said.

The police are still trying to determine where the victim was coming from or where he was headed before the accident.

Cabuena added that the bus was only a few meters away from the terminal when the accident occurred around 10:35 p.m.

She mentioned that the victim’s family and Vallacar Transit Inc. have already had initial discussions, but she is unsure whether both parties have reached an agreement or settlement.
