BACOLOD CITY – A 57-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a multi-cab in Barangay 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, last Thursday.

Police identified the victim as a resident of the same village, known only as “Molito.”

Police Major Ryan Villasario, deputy chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, said the victim was tailing two cars when he allegedly attempted to overtake on the right side. He failed to notice the multi-cab, driven by a 44-year-old resident of Barangay 2.

The motorcycle collided with the multi-cab, and the victim sustained severe chest injuries. He was pronounced dead at a hospital, Villasario said.

According to Villasario, the victim was on his way home when the accident occurred at around 10:45 a.m.

The victim’s family shared that “Molito” had a vision problem, which might have contributed to the accident.

Both parties reached an initial settlement, and the multi-cab driver was released from police custody on Friday, Villasario added.
